Military Service
Gary Eisen's dad was in World War II. He fought in the Battle of Bulge. Growing up Gary planned on going into the military like his Dad. When he was 16 / 17, Gary had an auto-immune disease that kept him from enlisting and was told he should probably look for something else to do.
So Gary went to welding school, got a job doing portable welding work, was laid off and started his own welding business. 50 years later he's still in business. He's been over 90 ft in the air, welding I-beams, 6 feet in the ground welding pipe, and pretty much everything in between.
Gary started training in Martial Arts as a young man. Still active today, he recently received his 8th Dan Black Belt while in South Korea in September of 2025.
Gary also became a Firearm / CPL instructor 20 years ago and is currently still doing classes.
He got married, had two kids, and now 3 grandkids.
He served 2 terms In Lansing as a State Representative.
Thinking back maybe it was God’s plan for me to not go into the military ?
